MARQUETTE - The former administrator and principal of the Munising Baptist Church and School who is charged with criminal sexual conduct involving a student will remain in jail, awaiting further court proceedings.
Benjamin David Franklin II, 35, is charged with one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The allegations involve a student between the ages of 16 and 18, according to court documents.
Franklin's bond was revoked earlier this month on the approval of Alger County Circuit Court Judge William Carmody.
A supplemental police report filed May 30 with the prosecuting attorney's office states numerous electronic messages were sent by Franklin to the alleged victim, violating a provision of his bond.
In a hearing Monday, Franklin was ordered to remain in custody. He is scheduled to appear in court again for a July 1 pretrial hearing.
Franklin was initially released after posting bond at 10 percent of $5,000. He previously waived his circuit court arraignment.
