MUNISING, Mich. - Shawn Miguel Holt, age 17, of 216 W. Chocolay Street, Munising, died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sunday, June 16, 2013 in AuTrain Township.
He was born on January 17, 1996 in Marquette and lived there until he was five. Shawn and his mom moved to Munising and he grew up there and attended the Munising Public School. He loved basketball and football and played during his middle school and early high school years. Shawn loved the Los Angeles Lakers (especially Kobe Bryant), the University of Michigan, and the Green Bay Packers. Every preseason, he and his mom would go to Lambeau to watch training camp and collect autographs. Shawn also enjoyed collecting jerseys. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends and they were a huge part of his life. Shawn loved listening to music and attending concerts. Some of his favorite rappers were Tupac, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem, Kid Cudi, Kendrick Lamar, and Mac Miller. He had recently been working at Johnny Dogs. Shawn was passionate about his opinions and was loved by many.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Katrina Holt-Cox and Mike Cox of Munising; grandmother Christina Ferguson of Munising; stepsister Michelle Cox of KI Sawyer; uncles and aunt Christopher (Sandy) Dennis of Indiana and Andrew Dennis of Colorado; cousins Adam, Samantha, and baby Kingsley; and many friends.
A time of visiting with family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at the Bowerman Funeral Home. At 8:00 p.m. there will be a celebration honoring Shawn's life. There will be music and an opportunity to share stories. Kat is asking that Shawn's friends be willing to come to the microphone at the funeral home to share their stories with each other.
