FOREST LAKE - The Alger County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic crash that killed a 17-year-old Munising boy Sunday afternoon in AuTrain Township.

Deputies said a 911 call was received at 5:27 p.m. Sunday, reporting a single-vehicle rollover crash along M-94, near Addis Lake Road in AuTrain Township.

Police said Shawn Miguel Holt of Munising was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial investigation showed Holt was westbound along the highway and lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway on the south side of the highway, struck trees and rolled over onto its roof. The county medical examiner has ordered an autopsy to aid authorities in trying to determine the cause of the accident.

In addition to the sheriff's office, agencies responding to the crash scene included Alger County EMS, Alger County Rescue Extrication, AuTrain Township Fire Department, Mathias Township Fire Rescue and Michigan State Police.

John Pepin can be reached at 906-228-2500, ext. 206.
