MARQUETTE, MI. - Alva Mary (Durocher) Genore, age 94, formerly of Snowberry Heights, Marquette, entered eternal life Tuesday afternoon, June 11, 2013, at the Norlite Nursing Center in the loving, comforting care of her family.
Alva was born in Marquette on May 26, 1919, to Joseph and Anna (Gingras) Durocher, and attended the former St. John's Catholic School and was a member of the former St. John's Catholic Church. In later years, she worked for a brief time at Sara Lee Bakery, retiring in 1981.
Alva was a great bowler and enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends, knitting, shuffleboard, cribbage, and especially time spent with her grandchildren.
Alva is survived by her seven children, William (Susie) Genore of Burton, Nolan Genore, Clayton A. (Julie) Genore, Marsha A. Hockin all of Marquette, Mitzi L. (Alex) Magyar of LasVegas, NV., Glynes Genore of Eau Claire, WI, and Dean (Jill) Genore of Clinton Township; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alva was preceded in death by 10 siblings..
Graveside services were held at the Holy Cross Cemetery on Thursday morning.
The family would like to express their appreication to the staff of the Norlite Nursing Center and UP Home Health and Hospice for the compassionate care and many kindnesses extended to Alva and her family.
