Meg G. Koenigsknecht

MARQUETTE, MI. - Meg G. Koenigsknecht, age 68, of Harvey, entered eternal life Thursday, June 6, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital.

Meg was born May 9, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to Henry and Lyle (Harrington) Geueke. Shortly after Meg's birth, her family moved to Calumet. She was raised in Laurium and was a graduate of the Calumet High School. Following graduation, she enrolled at Northern Michigan University where she initially pursued nursing, later changing curriculums and graduating with a teaching degree. Meg began her teaching career shortly before marrying Daniel Koenigsknecht, after which she became a homemaker. In her later years, she went back to her teaching career as a substitute teacher in Marquette County. Her most recent job was working in customer service for ACN.

Meg was in involved in many civic activities, such as being a Girl Scout leader for many years, also being a member of St. Michael Church. In her spare time, she took pleasure in crocheting, knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed photography, was really into mystery TV shows, and was an avid reader of mystery novels.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Dan Koenigsknecht; her daughter, Cres Koenigsknecht of Marquette; her brother, John (B.J.) Geueke, of Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and close family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Wednesday, June 12, beginning at 11:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Larry Van Damme as celebrant. A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center. Interment will take place in the Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
