NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Daniel Lee Croschere, 55, of 84 Midway Drive, Negaunee Township, died peacefully at his home at 2:28 PM on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, surrounded by his loving family and under the care of the Lake Superior Hospice Association.
Daniel was born October 20, 1957, in Ishpeming to Donald James and Ruth Marilyn (Kuivinen) Croschere, was a graduate of Negaunee High School, Class of 1975, and was a lifelong Negaunee Township resident. He was employed by Cleveland Cliffs as a plant repairman, retiring from the Empire Mine in 2004 because of health problems. He had 28 years of service with the company.
Dan was a member of the United Steel Workers Local # 4950. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing and camping. He used his long beard to creatively entertain the little kids, especially on the camping trips. He was also a great fan of the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and the Michigan Wolverines.
Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Sandi (Prusi); 1 son, Adam Croschere; 2 daughters: Staci (Wayne Parish) Croschere and Amy Croschere, all of Negaunee Township; 2 sisters: Debra (Robert) Frederick of Royal Oak and Laurie (Kenneth) Parker of Saginaw; 2 brothers: Dennis (Barb) Croschere and Gerald (Candy) Croschere, both of Negaunee Township; a brother-in-law, Leo (Trudy) Prusi of Republic; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald J., on Jan. 23, 1983, and his mother, Ruth M., on Sept. 27, 2010.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday at the Koskey Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles L. Tooman officiating. Burial will be in Northland Chapel Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:30 PM until the time of services at 4:00 PM at the funeral home of Friday.
