Vickstrom scores three, Mattila twice for Globe Printing in W.I.N. victory

MARQUETTE - Globe Printing knocked off Martin Sportswear, 7-4, in W.I.N. girls slowpitch softball.

For Globe, Brianna Vickstrom, Haley Mattila, Holly Luokkala and Aubrey Magnuson all went 3 for 3 with Vickstrom scoring three runs and Mattila scoring two.

For Martin, Ella DeMarois went 1 for 1 with two walks, scoring twice. Isabella Nora recorded three walks.

Peninsula Bank topped Martin Sportswear, 15-0. For Pen Bank, Kaeleigh Talbacka and Brylea Ranta each had a home run, combining for eight RBIs. Madison Pruett pitched a shutout, striking out eight. For Martins, Rylee Harris, Olivia Corp and Missy Bauer all collected hits.

Elks Lodge came out ahead of Cliff's Natural Resources, 13-9. For the Elks, Megan Kjellman hit two home runs.

TruNorth Credit Union overcame a 5-0 deficit and defeated Meyer Family Vision, 13-6.

Peninsula Bank defeated Jubilee Foods, 25-0. Pruett and Talbacka posted two home runs and six RBIs each. Lindsey Giraud had a home run and a triple. Hailey Smith scored three runs. For Jubilee, Mollie Stille had a single.

Meyer Family Vision came out on top of Jubilee Foods, 11-6. For Meyer, Livvie Wood was 2 for 2 and Lexi Taavola and Abby Faull were both 2-3. For Jubilee, Kassey Sharon was 4 for 4 with two doubles.

Peninsula Bank topped Superior Iron Range Credit Union, 26-0. For Pen Bank, Meghan Johnson went 2 for 2 with a home run and five RBIs. Sarah Olivier went 2 for 3. For SIR, Adrianna Gustafson had a single.

Globe Printing defeated Jubilee, 21-6. For Globe, Haley Mattila, Morgan Coolidge, Brianna Vickstrom, Holly Luokkala and Anna Chipman all went 2 for 2 with Mattila and Vickstrom recording grand slams.

Anna Chipman made the defensive play of the game with an over the shoulder catch in the shallow outfield. For Jubilee, Raija Stille led the way going 3 for 3 with a home run and Ella Luke reached base three times, scoring a run.
