MARQUETTE, Mich. - Eileen A. Dodd, age 91, of Marquette, passed away Wednesday morning, May 29, 2013, shortly after admittance to Marquette General Hospital. She had been a resident of the Norlite Nursing Center for the past four weeks.
Born December 12, 1921 at the family farm in Greenview, Illinois, a daughter of John and Margaret (Albrecht) Cramer, her birth was legally recorded through a phone call from the family home. Eileen was raised in Greenview and graduated from Greenview High School on May 24, 1939. She enrolled in cosmetology classes in Springfield, Illinois, receiving her certification, and remained a cosmetologist until her retirement at the age of 81. On December 3, 1945, Eileen married Harold Dodd while he was serving in the military. The couple moved frequently during his military career, making their final move from Louisiana to Marquette in 1964. Eileen's family was her life, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived her daughter, Deborah (Tom) St. John of Marquette; two grandsons, Jason (Allie) St. John of North Chicago, Illinois and Kyle St. John of Marquette; a brother, Robert Cramer of Normal, Illinois; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in January 1988; a sister, Louise Hawkins; and brothers, Edward and Fred Cramer.
Friends may call at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Saturday, June 1, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Deacon Gregg St. John will preside and inurnment will be made in the Park Cemetery.
