MARQUETTE - The Marquette City Commission will consider adoption of the city's 2013-2014 budget during a regular meeting Tuesday night.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the commission chambers at city hall.
The balanced budget proposed by city staff includes revenues and expenditures totaling $26.33 million.
The commission's discussion and decision on the budget proposal will come following a public hearing to gather community input.
The seven commissioners have already spent hours discussing the document, and during four days this spring worked through the 15-month budget proposal put forth by city staff.
The current city fiscal year runs from July through June, but the new city charter stipulates the city operate on an October through September budget year. In order to facilitate the switch, the city will operate on a single budget from July 2013 through September of 2014.
In other action, the commission will consider establishing a Marquette Aging Service Advisory Committee to represent the interests of seniors in the city and will consider approving a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant in the amount of $88,000 to aid in the construction of permanent restroom facilities at McCarty's Cove.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday due to the Memorial Day holiday.
