MARQUETTE, Mich. - Carl J. Burnham, 34, of Marquette and formerly of Curtis, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at Marquette General Hospital on Sunday, May 19, 2013.
Carl was born on July 13, 1978, in Clare, Mich., a son of Duane R. and Diane M. (Shoebottom) Burnham. In 1981 he moved to the Curtis area. Carl graduated from Tahquamenon Area Schools in the Class of 1996. While in high school, he participated in track, basketball and played the saxophone in the band. Following graduation, Carl served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the American Legion. Following his service to his country Carl became employed in the construction industry which allowed him to travel to and live in several states.
For the five years prior to his passing, Carl worked for Spodeck Contracting. His excellent carpentry work was extensive and took him all over the Midwest. Carl was more than just an excellent employee, he was considered family and will be greatly missed.
Carl enjoyed working with his hands, and doing most anything outdoors (hunting, fishing and camping). He also loved to golf and was an integral part of the annual Spodeck Golf Invitational.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Beaulieu Funeral Home in Newberry on Friday, May 24, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Cremation services have already been accorded.
