Florence L. ‘Gramma Green’ Greenleaf

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Florence L. "Gramma Green" Greenleaf, 90, of Marquette, passed away Sunday morning, May 19, 2013 at her home, surrounded by family and under the care of Lake Superior Hospice.

Florence was born on September 29, 1922 in Marquette to the late Louis and Louise (Doll) Fassbender and was a lifelong Marquette resident.

She was formerly employed at Montgomery Wards, J.C. Penney, K-Mart and in the kitchen at NMU's University Center. Florence was a wonderful homemaker, taking great pride in her garden as well as cooking and baking. She enjoyed playing cards and keeping in touch with friends and family, sending letters to her grandchildren every week. She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

She is survived by four children, Gorda Schuettpelz of Marquette, Patty (Jim) Reichel of Gwinn, Linda (Robin) Trembath of Marquette and Wayne (Kelly) Greenleaf of Harvey; 12 grandchildren, Reesha (James Cornelius) Schuettpelz, Tanya (Marvin) Craft, Shawn (Jennifer) Reichel, Erica Trembath, Angelique (Chad) Peterson, Chelsea Greenleaf, David Greenleaf, Dale (Diane) Tincknell, Darrel (Sue) Tincknell, Terry (Katie) Tincknell, Kenny (Marijo) McCain, Ann Marie (Murphy) Sainteleen; also several great grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter; two sisters, Irene (Raymond) Niemi and Marilyn Niemi, both of Marquette; a brother, George Fassbender of Houghton; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Tincknell of Negaunee as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Greenleaf in 1977; two children, Jerry Tincknell and Judy Abba; a son-in-law, Ken Schuettpelz and siblings, Walter, Louis, Ernest, and Roy Fassbender, Bernice Bocklund, and Elsie Nicholls.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23 at 1:30 p.m. in Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Chad Ott officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Park Cemetery.
