NEGAUNEE - The Tri-City Northstars swept a doubleheader on Sunday at Irontown Field in Negaunee against visiting Stanton from the Houghton-area Twilight League, 6-3 and 3-2.
In the Game 1, a 6-3 win, Dave Speaker Jr. struck out four in three innings while surrendering two earned runs and five hits. Adam Gannon allowed one earned run and two hits with three strikeouts over the final four innings to get the win.
At the plate in Game 1, Zak Uren had two RBIs, a hit and run; James Larsen II had two hits and two runs scored; Spencer Larson had two hits, an RBI and run; and Corey Larson had two RBIs, a hit and run.
A two-out, walk-off RBI single by Larson in the bottom of the seventh drove in Preston Hutchins for the winning run against Stanton. Hutchins reached base on a two-out double.
Hutchins was 2 for 2 at the plate in both games combined. He got the win on the mound in Game 2, giving up one earned run and striking out three over the final two innings.
Uren got the start and struck out seven over five innings. He gave up four walks, four hits and one unearned run.
Larson had two hits in Game 2 while Zach Sorelle had a double and run scored. Jeremy Rae also had two hits and a run.
Tri-City opens Wishigan League play at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Channing.
