ISHPEMING - Totaling 33 runs, the Ishpeming High School girls softball team mercied visiting Westwood twice on Thursday.

The Hematites won the first game 17-2 in four innings. In the nightcap, Ishpeming (5-6) took a 16-5 triumph in five frames.

"Hitting was the key. We were just swinging the bats," Ishpeming manager Jeremy Thompson said. "We're committing fewer errors, too. We only had two today."

Sinaed Korvala went 4-for-4 with a triple, scored three runs and knocked in one in the first game for the winners.

Lindsey Thompson added three hits, scored a run and plated two more, while Hematites teammate Natalee Dobson posted two safeties (double), came home twice and picked up an RBI.
