ISHPEMING - Wednesday's Westwood-Ishpeming boys prep tennis match couldn't have been much closer.
With five matches going three sets, the Patriots and host Hematites played to a 4-4 tie.
"It just shows the two teams are pretty even (in talent)," Ishpeming head coach Erl Langness said. "Every match that didn't go three sets were all close, except for No. 4 singles (won by the Hematites' Kirk Guckenberg)."

West Iron County 1
At Marquette Wednesday, the Marquette Senior High School tennis team raised its season record to 5-1-1 with a 7-1 win over West Iron County.
"We played well, though West Iron was without their No. 1 singles player (Austin Waara)," MSHS head coach Charlie Drury said.
"They had a lot of singles playing up a position and that's a tough position to be in."
Josh Downs, Justin Flood and Noah Gannon all won their singles matches at Nos. 1-3, respectfully, for the Redmen.
"Downs played well. He's starting to play his own game rather than his opponent's," Drury said.
MSHS swept the doubles competition, led by Alex Shahbazi and Kyle King at No. 1 with a 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) triumph over
Andrew Peterson and Sean Gustafson.
