Prep baseball: Superior Central wins Posen tournament title

MARQUETTE - The Superior Central baseball team took first place in a tournament in Posen on Saturday via a pair of wins that improved the team's overall record to 3-5.

The Cougars opened with a 9-2 win over Posen with Cody Maki pitching to the team to victory. He gave up no walks, four hits and two runs while striking out five in five innings.

At the plate, Tyler Kienitz had a pair of hits against Posen while Matt Maki and Ian McInnis each had a pair of RBIs.

Superior Central beat Oscoda 10-7 for the title as Jacob Aho had three hits and five RBIs. Matt Maki also had two hits and Kienitz scored four runs.

McInnis went all seven innings, giving up five hits, seven runs - four earned - and seven walks. He struck out six batters.
