MARQUETTE, Mich. - Harold Henry Nyman, age 90, of Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday May 5, 2013 at the D. J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans. Harold was born October 1, 1922 in Chatham to Frank and Lempi (Maki) Nyman. He was raised in Marquette and later enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country from January 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. Following service to his country, he started his employment with Cleveland Cliffs working as a miner for 36 years before his retirement. Harold was a member of the Negaunee VFW and in his spare time loved hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his son, Wayne (Darcelle) Nyman of Marquette, his three stepdaughters, Kim (Richard) Hale of St. Johns, MI, Colleen Tavor of Farmington, MI and Connie Laine of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren, Dwayne (Pamela) Nyman of Mosinee, WI, Danielle (Greg) Walin of Marquette and Derrick Nyman of Comstock, MI; four great-grandchildren; his brothers, Rudolph (Jean) Nyman of Champion and Clarence Nyman of Marquette; his brother-in-law, Allen Ross of Sand River and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mae; his second wife, Aune; his stepdaughters, Arlove Ross and Judy Stuer and his brother, Ward Longtine.
Friends may call the Swanson-Lundquist Funeral Home on Friday, May 10, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Kelto officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Chatham. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the D.J. Jacobetti Activities Fund.
