Group to discuss crime book
MARQUETTE - The Once Upon A Crime Book Group continues its "reading journey" around the U.S. at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Dandelion Cottage Room at Peter White Public Library.
The group will discuss "A Winter of her Discontent" by Kathryn Miller Haines whose second Rosie Winter mystery finds the World War II-era Broadway actress (and former assistant to a private eye) using her sleuthing skills to solve a series of backstage crimes.

Library to screen 'Snake Pit'
MARQUETTE - Afternoon Classic Films will screen "The Snake Pit" at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.
Shown in conjunction with the Your Mind Matters program series, the 1948 drama centers around Virginia Cunningham, played by Olivia DeHavilland, who finds herself in a state insane asylum - and can't remember how she got there.
This black and white film runs for 108 minutes.

Personal finance program offered
MARQUETTE - The personal finance education drop-in program Back on Track is available from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, May 8 and 22 in the Peter White Public Library's main floor conference room. This is the final month for these one-on-one sessions to help individuals get from where they are, financially, onto the road to a better future. Back on Track will resume in September.
Reserve time with Joan Vinette, Extension Educator with the Michigan State University Extension Service for a confidential session. Drop-in's also are welcome.

History center offers May event
MARQUETTE - The Marquette Regional History Center will present its Saturday at the Center event "Spring is in the Air" from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Attendees may participate in planting a sister's garden, making Maypoles and May baskets, and more.
