NMU graduates prepared to take on world

Where we stand

May 4, 2013
The Mining Journal

Today, Northern Michigan University graduates will hold the diplomas for which they have worked and slaved to earn.

Commencement ceremonies take place this morning at the Superior Dome here in Marquette. That facility will be packed with proud parents, grandparents, siblings and friends as these graduates get ready to take that next step toward creating the lives of their dreams.

Those who cannot be there in person for the graduation festivities can watch either on WNMU-TV 13, if they live in the Upper Peninsula, or on the Internet via the America One/B2 Networks which will be streaming the ceremony live via the Internet, free of charge. Visit nmu.edu to find out more about that.

While college days can be filled with many fun activities, they also can be times of great stress as many students also hold down jobs while attending classes, balancing learning with earning.

We join in saluting those who are gaining their degrees today and we wish all graduates great luck in finding employment.

We trust your future will be as positive and focused as all of you are today.

And we hope you carry fond memories of the time you spent in Marquette and return to visit here often if you aren't lucky enough to be able to make this area your permanent home.
