MARQUETTE - State Board of Education President John Austin will be in Marquette Monday, discussing recent and anticipated changes to public education in Michigan.
The event, hosted by the Upper Peninsula Center for Educational Development, will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. inside Conference Rooms A and B in the Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Services Agency offices on Ohio Street in Marquette.
Austin will present an overview of recent and anticipated activities for public education and address key points for the Marquette-Alger region and communities to consider in the discussion of education reform, needed change and key success factors.
A question and answer period will follow Austin's presentation.
The public forum will be bridged out as a video-conference to six remote sites to allow for real time participation from interested people from all across the Upper Peninsula. Those sites are:
Copper Country Intermediate School District, Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District, Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District, Dickinson Iron Intermediate School District, Gogebic Ontonagon Intermediate School District and Menominee County Intermediate School District.
