ESCANABA - Avery Rochester and Scott Frazier led Marquette to third-place finishes at the five-school Escanaba Invitational high school golf meet held at Escanaba Country Club on Thursday.
Rochester shot 42 to capture girls medalist honors by two strokes over Kelsey Motto of Escanaba and Callie Jensen of Gladstone. Just three other golfers broke 50 on the day.
Frazier's 86 was good for fourth place in the boys meet, nine strokes behind medalist Ben Lasecki of Gladstone, but only three off the pace set by runner-up Kyle Pouliot, also of Gladstone. Nine golfers in total broke 90, including Frazier's teammate Brett Specker with 89.

The Marquette girls totaled 214 to trail meet winner Escanaba's 196 and Gladstone's 211. Iron Mountain had 217 and Kingsford 269.
The Redettes also recorded scores of 51 by Katie Pryor, 58 by Hanna Crampton and 63 by Maddy Cannon.
Among the boys, the Redmen tied Iron Mountain for third with 360, but won the fifth golfer tiebreaker easily as Nick Webber's 96 outshone the Mountaineers' 110.
Gladstone won with 341, the host Eskymos had 358 and Kingsford was at 368.
Other Marquette boys scores were Mike Mahee with 92 and Jordan Frazier with 93.
MSHS hosts Ishpeming and Munising in a meet to be held at the Marquette Golf Club at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Marquette also travels back to Escanaba on Thursday for the First National Bank and Trust Invitational.
