Poor use of funds

April 30, 2013
The Mining Journal

To the Journal editor:

I don't understand the Marquette County Board spending $870,000 to shorten the runway at Sawyer when it only costs $20,000 per year to maintain the north end.

They could take $20,000 a year from the fund they propose to use to shorten the runway and it would last for over 40 years. Do the math.

Once you shorten the runway, you'll never be able to lengthen it again, in the event technology requires longer runways.

Re-consider your decision and use a calculator if necessary!
