Lake Effect choir to perform
MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan University will present "A Taste of Lake Effect Show Choir" with performances beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the Great Lakes Rooms of the University Center. This annual concert of song and dance will also feature desserts and refreshments.
Tickets cost $15, and may be purchased through Monday at the music department office inside the Thomas Fine Arts building or at Forsberg Flowers on Third Street. For more information, call 906-227-2563.
Sunday dance set in Trenary
TRENARY - A dance will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Trenary Community Building in Trenary. Music will be provided by Country Wheels. Admission is $5, with a $3 lunch donation.
Local authors to read
ISHPEMING - Readings of fiction and poetry by local authors will take place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Joy Center, 1492 Southwood Dr. in Ishpeming. Rev. Roy Bourgeois to speak
MARQUETTE - The Rev. Roy Bourgeois, founder of the "School of the Americas Watch," will speak at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the University Center Marquette Room at Northern Michigan University.
Bourgeois also will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Peter White Public Library's Community Room.

Climate change meeting at arena
MARQUETTE - Adapting to a Changing Climate: Part 2 of a Community Conversation will meet from 6:30 ot 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Citizens Forum Room at Lakeview Arena in Marquette.
Residents will learn about local climate trends and engage in discussions with local planners on refining climate adaptation policies for the area. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Hospice symposium at Bay
ESCANABA - The second annual Hospice Symposium of the Upper Peninsula will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Heirman University Center at Bay College in Escanaba. The symposium will feature a legislative and regulatory update by the Hospice and Palliative Care Association of Michigan. Other presentation topics will include quality measures and reporting, pain management, partnering with nursing homes, as well as a roundtable discussion.
