Elvira A. ‘Babe’ Kuhn

MARQUETTE, MI - Elvira A. "Babe" Kuhn, age 85, of 1901 Division Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, in the loving care of her family, the staff of Brookridge Heights, and the caregivers of UP Home Health and Hospice.

Born December 31, 1927 in Marquette, a daughter of Augostino and Loretta (Picciano) DeMarinis, Babe was raised in Marquette and was a graduate of the John D. Pierce High School. On November 27, 1948, Babe married Charles W. "Bill" Kuhn, and together the couple established a home and raised their family in Marquette. For many years, Babe served as a secretary for the C.T. DeHaas Company. Babe was very devoted to her family and in her leisure enjoyed nightly walks by the lakeshore, knitting, reading, playing cards and a frequent trip to the casino.

Survivors include her sons, Larry (Cindy) Kuhn, Robert (Liz) Kuhn, James Kuhn and his significant other Diane Botsford, of Marquette, and Daniel (Mary Ellen) Kuhn of San Marcos, CA; her grandchildren, Jamie (Scot) Acocks, Christy (Joe) Negrinelli, Jason Kuhn, Lisa (Patrick) Borton, Dorothy Kuhn, and Georgietta Kuhn; great-grandchildren, Nola Jane Acocks and Hank Borton; her sisters, Mary Berry and Virginia "Jean" Dupras both of Marquette; several nieces and nephews. Babe was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles "Bill" Kuhn; a sister, Margaret Coats and husband, Titus; brothers-in-law, William Berry, Donald "Doc" Dupras, Chester "Buck" Kuhn and wife, Doris and John Kuhn and wife, Elaine; sisters-in-law, Marie Shaw and Evelyn "Sis" Greenleaf.

Friends may call at St. Michael Catholic Church on Monday, April 22, from at 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm with Rev. Nicholas Thompson, as celebrant. A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center.

Burial will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Kuhn, Tony DePetro, Neil Greenleaf, and Donald Dupras.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Michael Catholic Church Memorial Fund, 401 W. Kaye Avenue, Marquette, MI 49855 or Brookridge Heights Assisted Living Activity Fund, 1901 Division Street, Marquette, MI 49855.
