MARQUETTE - The weather outside is frightful for golf in the Upper Peninsula, but it's just about perfect in Florida as two Alger County men who winter there recently made holes-in-one.

Loyst Trombley, 80, of Wetmore, who spends the winter in Dana Lake, recorded his first career ace on the second hole of Nature Walk Golf Course in Lynn Haven on Feb. 17. He used a pitching wedge on the 93-yard-long hole.

The feat was witnessed by Chuck Johnson of Munising, Arland Brock of Wetmore and Patty Demeuse of Gladstone.

On the following day, Johnson, 70, of 16 Mile Lake, made his second hole-in-one at Sunny Hills Golf Course in Sunny Hills using a pitching wedge from 118 yards on No. 8.

His witnesses were Russ Bernard and Duane Lincoln of Munising, and Jim Nauta of Pentwater, Fla.
