MARQUETTE - Two memorial services for a Northern Michigan University student found dead in her campus apartment Friday will be held this week.

The body of Monica Matus, 22, a senior art and design-secondary education major from Chicago, was discovered Friday in her Woodland Parks apartment.

The first is set for 7 this evening at the Canale-Tonella Funeral Home on Third Street in Marquette.

A sunrise flower petal ceremony is also planned, and will be at 8 a.m. Thursday at McCarty's Cove. The ceremony will begin at the Coast Guard Station on Lakeshore Boulevard.

The investigation into Matus' death, conducted by Northern Michigan University Public Safety and Police Services, is closed and no foul play is suspected. A cause of death has not been released.
