MARQUETTE, Mich. - Loretta M. "Betty" Chrest, age 88, of Marquette, entered eternal life Friday afternoon, April 5, 2013, at the Norlite Nursing Center.
Born August 4, 1924 in Marquette, a daughter of Daniel and Ruth (Briggs) Deacon, Betty was a lifelong Marquette resident. Betty was known mostly for her career as a cosmetologist and owner/operator of the former Upper Peninsula Beauty Academy and establishment of the Cosmetology Department at the Jacobetti Skill Center located at Northern Michigan University.
Survivors include her daughter, Rene "Penny" (Ronald) Tiehen of Norman, OK; son, Fredrick "Rick" - "Pete" (Tammy) Peterson of Gwinn; stepchildren, Constance Branton of Idaho and George Chrest of Seattle, WA; her grandchildren, Christine (Cary) Rochman, Brian (Leigh) Tiehen, Shane (Mary) Peterson, Michael, Jeffrey, Joy (Mark) Peterson, David Peterson, and Christina Kunick; great- grandchildren, Christopher, Zackary, Tessa, Jasmine, Emily, and Luke Peterson; sisters, Lona Dagutis of Sellersville, PA, Joyce (Tom) Miller of Gulf Breeze, FL, and Sally Michener of Navarre, FL; and her special friend, Jill Paris of Gwinn.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Alfred Peterson and Russell Chrest; and brothers, Daniel and Leland Deacon.
Honoring Betty's request, no services will be scheduled.
