NEWBERRY, MI - Rachel J. McCutcheon, 77, of Newberry, died on Wednesday evening, April 3, 2013 at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette surrounded by her family.

Born on November 16, 1935 in Lansing, Rachel was a daughter of the late Otto and Iva (Richmond) Leiby. She was raised in the Lansing area, graduating from Eastern High School in Lansing in the Class of 1953. Rachel moved to Newberry in 1960 and had been employed at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital. She retired from the Hospital after 25 years of faithful service. Rachel was a lifetime member of the Luce Chapter #364 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She held the position of Worthy Matron 3 times, served at the District Level of Cloverland, Cloverland Line, State Grand Electra, and also served as Grand Representative to Idaho. She married Robert McCutcheon on September 4, 1970. Rachel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, four-wheeling, and communicating on her computer whether using e-mails to pass on jokes, or just conversation. She is preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Aaron Moulton, brothers Harold and Gerald and her mother-in-law and father-in-law Margaret and Glenn McCutcheon.

Survivors include her husband Robert of Newberry; Son and daughter-in-law Gary (Cindy) Moulton of Newberry; daughter and son-in-law Diane (John) Burbach, also of Newberry; daughter and son-in-law Betty (Paul) Broussard of Houston, TX and daughter Marcia Berry also of Newberry; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother Carl Leiby of Clearwater, FL and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests at the Newberry United Methodist Church on Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 3:00 pm until time of services. A Service of Remembrance will be conducted by the Luce Chapter #364 Order of the Eastern Star at 4:00 pm and the memorial service will follow with Rev. Leon G. Jarvis officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

The family suggests memorials can be directed to the Newberry United Methodist Church.
