Woman shot, killed by trooper identified

Officers, answering apparent domestic dispute at Humboldt Township home, are confronted by armed 50-year-old female

CHAMPION - Michigan State Police have identified the woman killed by a trooper responding to a domestic dispute as Lori Lee Lee, 50, of County Road FS in Champion.

Investigation was continuing today into the domestic dispute in Humboldt Township, which occurred Thursday night, leaving Lee dead from a single gunshot wound. According to a news release, she was shot by a 17-year Michigan State Police trooper.

Michigan State Police troopers from the Negaunee Township post said the shooting occurred at about 6:05 p.m. Thursday at a home in Humboldt Township.

A trooper and a Marquette County Sheriff's Office deputy responded to a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute was in progress involving a firearm.

When police arrived at the residence, officers were confronted by an armed female, according to a news release issued by the state police.
