Vehicle damages building

MARQUETTE - A Family Video employee sustained minor injuries Wednesday evening after a vehicle crashed into the front of the business.

Marquette City police and firefighters responded at 5:34 p.m. on a call a vehicle had struck the building, located at 1110 W. Washington St. Investigation revealed a 54-year-old Illinois man had hit the accelerator instead of the brake, causing his vehicle to hit the building.

Police said the driver and his 19-year-old passenger did not sustain any injuries. The driver was cited for careless driving.

The building sustained a moderate amount of damage to the block wall and remains open. Medi-Ride EMS assisted at the scene.
