ISHPEMING, Mich. - Oliver Edward Priuska, 86, of 111 Bluff St., Ishpeming, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Bell Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday.
Oliver was born May 13, 1926 in Negaunee to Matt and Olga (Saukko) Priuska and attended Negaunee Schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a signalman in the Pacific theater of operations. Mr. Priuska was employed at Johnson Motors in Waukegan, Illinois for many years and also worked as a custodian at Marquette City Hall, retiring in 1985. He spent the last 25 years of his life at the Pine View Apartments in Ishpeming.
Oliver was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church, Ishpeming and V.A. Romo Post #3165, Negaunee VFW. He loved sports, country music in earlier eras and also loved animals, especially birds which he had for years.

Surviving are his brother, Roy (Carolyn) Priuska of Murfreesboro, TN; sister, Anne Larson of Sullivan, MO; nephews: Gary Bath of Menasha, WI, William Bath of Ishpeming, Eric Priuska of Ann Arbor; nieces: Valerie Rains and Victoria Priuska of Murfreesboro, TN, Susan Horstmann of Wildwood, MO, Kristi Pohle of St. James, MO, Nancy Calderwood of Elgin, IL, and many great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Vienno (Fred) Bath, brothers Wilho and Uno Priuska. Oliver was a loving person who cared for his brothers and sisters and all of his relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3rd at the Koskey Funeral Home with Mr. Frank Honkala officiating. Interment will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Heart Association in Oliver's memory.
