Sheriff’s program asssists UPAWS

March 31, 2013
The Mining Journal

In conjunction with the Marquette County Sheriff's Office's Community Corrections Detention Center programs, two dog houses were built by the inmates and donated to the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare shelter. UPAWS supervisor Theresa Wipperman receives the houses from Sgt. Brian Steede, jail services officer. UPAWS plans to give the houses to pet owners who typically keep their pets outside but can't afford a shelter for their animal. If anyone has usable materials they would like to donate so that more animal shelters can be constructed for UPAWS, contact Steede at 249-1041 ext. 3.
