CRYSTAL FALLS - Michigan State Police troopers from the Iron Mountain post are investigating a fatal house fire, which is believed to have claimed the life of a Crystal Falls Township woman in Iron County early today.
Police said human remains were found within the burned home, which are thought to be those of Sandra Takala, 58. Troopers said the fire was reported at 12:50 a.m.
Police said the fire was discovered by Douglas Takala - Sandra Takala's husband - who said the home was fully engulfed in flames when he returned home from work.

Firefighters from the Crystal Falls Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze. The Michigan State Police Fire Investigation Unit and a detective from the Iron Mountain post responded to the home. Police said the cause of the fire has not been determined and remains under investigation.
