Scout leader Mattson recognized

Darryl Mattson, left, of Cub Scout Pack 321 in Ishpeming receives the District Award of Merit from Commissioner Ray Schebel, right, as District Director Mike Metivier looks on. Mattson received the award at the recent Hiawathaland District of the Bay Lakes Council of the Boy Scouts of America annual recognition meeting at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Harvey. The award is given for exceptional service to youths in the district that includes most of the Upper Peninsula. In addition to Mattson, awards were presented to Betty Williams of Bark River and Jamie Siedlecki of Gladstone.
