MGH officials warn public of phone scam

March 27, 2013
By Journal Staff , The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - Marquette General Hospital officials have issued a warning concerning a reported phone scam that involves callers misidentifying themselves as the MGH Radiology Department staff.

According to individuals who have reported the calls to MGH, a call is made using a recording which instructs the listener to call Marquette Radiology at an "800" number. When the call recipient dials the phone number, they are then told they are entitled to local store vouchers or a cruise to the Bahamas, but must supply credit card information to pay processing fees.

Marquette General Hospital officials want the public aware that it is not soliciting credit card information over the telephone.
