Yvonne C. ‘Trudy’ Rowe-Massie

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Yvonne C. "Trudy" Rowe-Massie, age 81, formerly of 2053 Center Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Sunday, March 24, 2013, at the Norlite Nursing Center.

Born July 13, 1931, in Munising, Yvonne was raised in Munising and Sand River. She was able to complete her education and receive her high school diploma at Marquette Senior High School, through the school's Adult Education Program, graduating along with her daughter, Linda. For many years, Yvonne was employed as a secretary, first as a switchboard operator at Marquette General Hospital and then as secretary to Dr. Elzinga. Yvonne's family always came first, and her grandchildren were especially close to her, having cared for several of them while they were growing up. She was known for her crocheting skills, great cooking, and knitting; all of which she happily shared with family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Steven) Juzenas of Kenosha, Wis.; son, Bill (Terri) Rowe of Appleton, Wis.; stepdaughters, Cheryl (Richard) Plantenga of Marquette, Lori (Bill) Mulkey of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cathi (Pete) Hornbogen of Traverse City; her grandchildren, Angelia Hope, Crystal, Amanda, Billy, Katy, and Shane Rowe, Patti Lingle, Michael Plantenga, Charlie, Alexandra, Kitt, and Caitlyn Hornbogen; great-grandchildren Cameron, Morgan, Jordan, and Jodi; three sisters, Barbara (David) Reese of Little Rock, Ark., Judy (Dennis) Cassidy of Petoskey, and Patti (Terry) Ploof of Skandia; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by husbands, William Rowe in 1985 and Walter Massie in 2007.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fassbender Funeral Home on Thursday, March 28 from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. The Rev. Ben Paris will officiate.

Inurnment will be made at the Holy Cross Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Activity Fund at the Norlite Nursing Center.
