Martins Sports Apparel tops Meyers Family Vision in NIT

Derouin’s Auto Body, Tino’s Turkeys also post wins

NEGAUNEE - Bill Radcliffe scored a game-high 23 points on Monday at Lakeview Memorial Gymnasium, but it wasn't enough as his Meyers Family Vision team of Republic fell to Martins Sports Apparel of Gwinn, 73-62, in Class D action of the Negaunee Invitational Basketball Tournament.

Brian Mattila had 14 points for Meyers, but three from Martins topped his total. William Schiefel led Martins with 16 points while Nathan Wascher and Terry Norman each had 15 points.

In Class DD, Derouin's Auto Body of Escanaba defeated the Bricklayers of Gwinn, 72-66.

For Derouin's, Andy Augustine scored a game-high 22 points while teammate Ryan Barron posted 21.

The Bricklayers picked up 17 points from Dylan Johnson and 16 from Kenya Oas.

In Class E, Tino's Turnkeys of Negaunee opened the night's action with a 65-37 win over the Ore Dock of Marquette.

Brian Matthews had 22 points for the Turnkeys while Steve Pope pitched in 14. For the Ore Dock, Adam Ely had 12 points.

In today's NIT action starting at 6 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gymnasium, Chapman's Tavern of Ishpeming takes on Bill Smith Attorney of Marquette in Class D, Corktown Bar of Munising faces Tune Squad of Negaunee at 7:15 p.m. in Class E, and at 8:15 p.m. in Class EE, Casa Calabria of Marquette battles Palomaki Family Chiropractic of Negaunee.
