GAYLORD - The Negaunee High School boys basketball team advanced to the MHSAA Class C state semifinals with a 56-55 victory over Maple City Glen Lake at Gaylord High School on Tuesday in a state quarterfinal.
Tuesday was Negaunee's third straight appearance in the state quarterfinals. The Miners were defeated in their two previous attempts.
Neagunee (24-1) will play Laingsburg (23-2) in the state semifinals at 2:50 p.m. on Thursday at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing.
Laingsburgh advanced via a 42-32 win on Tuesday over Beaverton at Delta College.
Negaunee and Glen Lake were deadlocked 15-15 after the first quarter, but the Miners took a 28-26 advantage into halftime.
The Miners stayed out front, but only 40-39 after three quarters. The Miners had a three point lead with 18 seconds to play in the game and held on to win.
