Lyle P. Anderson

NEGAUNEE, MI. - Lyle Peter Anderson, 87, of 431 Cherry St., Negaunee, died peacefully at home Friday evening, March 8th, 2013, joining his wife Helen in heaven, with his loving family by his side and under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice.

Lyle was born September 18, 1925 in Negaunee to Peter and Esther (Lidbeck) Anderson, attended Negaunee High School and was a lifelong area resident. In his teenage years Lyle was a U.P. Champion figure skater. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, having served in the South Pacific theater of operations from 1943-46. Following his service to his country he was employed by Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company. He retired from the Empire Mine as a grader operator in 1987 with 37 years of service with the company.

Mr. Anderson was a Life Member of the V.A. Romo Post #3165 V.F.W., Negaunee. In his younger years he liked to fish with his family. Lyle was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Surviving are 4 sons: Jimmy Lyle (Lori) Anderson of Carson City, NV, Dennis Anderson of Milwaukee, WI, David (Judy) Anderson of Negaunee, Brian Anderson of Republic, 3 daughters: Lois Jandron of San Diego, CA, Linda (Darrell) DeMasters of Mason, and Cathy Anderson of North Lake, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 1 brother, Clyde (Bernice) Anderson of Negaunee Township, 3 sisters: Dorothy Maki of Orlando, FL, Patricia (Charles) Marcotte of Ishpeming, Klista (Randy) Gale of Wyandotte, numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Helen (Young) in 1996, 3 brothers: William "Bucky", Robert and Donald Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM at the Koskey Funeral Home with Rev. D. Michael Carriere officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 1:00 PM until the time of services at 3:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the U.P. Home Health and Hospice in Lyle's memory.
