MARQUETTE - The Marquette Area Farmer's Guild will have a spring fundraiser featuring a farmer's potluck from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the Ore Dock Brewing Co.'s community space. The potluck meal will be provided and served by the farmers at 2 p.m.
A limited number of advance tickets are available at Ore Dock Brewing Co. Cost is $25 for adults; $15 for ages 7-14; and free for age 6 and younger.
This event will raise money to help local farms cover costs to become Certified Naturally Grown, to purchase non GMO seeds for the upcoming growing season, and to continue efforts to improve the local food system.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet local farmers and experience a diverse selection of local foods that are available even in March.
Participating Upper Peninsula farms include Badger Creek Farm, Cloverland Apiary, Cloverland Farm, Dukes Farm, Ever Yielding Acres, Green Goods, Guindon Farms, Hannah's Garden, Rock River Farm, Seeds and Spores Family Farm, Shady Grove Farm, Wixtrom Natural Farms, and Virgin Earth Farm. The ticket will include a presentation by Mark Baker and live music provided by Mike Waite and Green Gene.
