NMU alpine ski team at nationals

MARQUETTE - The Northern Michigan University club alpine ski team will compete in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association National Championship in Sun Valley, Idaho, starting today through Saturday.

The women's alpine team - made up of junior Analicia Honkanen, freshmen Kelsey Young, freshmen Elisabeth Wolf, junior Paige Doolin, freshmen Ivy Lapp, and senior Allison Mooradian - qualified for nationals by placing second out of 14 teams at the Midwest Regional Championships, which were held February 16-17 at Marquette Mountain.

Senior Nicky Kumerow and sophomore Graham Janssen will also be competing in the National Championships in the skier cross events. Janssen was among the top 27 men's skier cross racers at regionals, while Kumerow won the regional women's skier cross.
