Donald P. Burdick

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Donald P. Burdick, age 78, of 425 Fisher Street, Marquette, entered eternal life on Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans where he resided.

Don was born September 17, 1934, in Marquette, a son of Louis and Clarissa (Pringle) Burdick, and was a lifelong Marquette resident. He was a Korean War era veteran, having served in the US Army stationed in Germany. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Marquette and was employed throughout the years with Max Muelle in landscaping, in the laundry at College Laundry and Cleaners, and Olson Motors. An avid gardener, he could grow just about anything, and was a talented artist, especially when it came to cartoon characters.

Don is survived by his sisters, Sandra (Joe) Bourgeois of Rapid River, Marilee Burdick of Negaunee, Carol Pazolt of Kingman, Ariz., Gayle (Tom) Cuff of Greenbrier, Tenn., and Betty (Jeff) Mehlhaff of Gwinn; brothers, Louis (Joann) Burdick Jr of Dearborn Heights, Milt (Jean) Burdick of Brea, Calif., James (Sharon) Burdick of Ishpeming, Thomas (Carol) Burdick of Reading, and Roger (Roberta) Burdick of Marquette; sister-in-law, Joanne Burdick of Marquette; brothers-in-law, James Mahn and Ronald Specker of Marquette; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by sisters, Barbara Mahn and Sharron Burdick; and brother, Robert "Bobby" Burdick.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Michael Catholic Church on Friday, March 1, beginning at 1:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon with the Rev. Nicholas Thompson as celebrant. A reception will follow in the St. Michael Parish Center. Burial will be made in the spring at the Holy Cross Cemetery with veteran's honors.
