IRON MOUNTAIN - Ishpeming-Negaunee pulled out a one-pin victory over host Iron Mountain to claim the Upper Peninsula Bowling Conference boys team tournament title at Recreation Lanes on Feb. 16.
On the girls side, Escanaba A pulled off a nearly 400-pin victory over runner-up Iron Mountain A as I-N came in fourth.
The I-N boys fell behind by 40 pins, 1,110-1,070, after the six-game Baker game round where the five teammates alternate frames to come up with single-game scores.
But Ishpeming erased the deficit with room to spare in the first of three regular games, where each of the five participants bowls their own game, 889-832.
The Hematites added a few pins the next game, 885-881, and it was just enough to survive a 20-pin loss in Game 3, 874-854, as I-N totaled 3,698 to 3,697 for IM.
Escanaba A was third, 130 pins behind the winners with 3,568, and Marquette A was fourth with 3,544. The Redmen had the top Baker round total, 1,136, including games of 220 and 213.
Westwood was seventh with 2,953, while Marquette B was ninth with 2,788 and L'Anse 10th with 2,617.
For the girls, Escanaba A had 3,369 to 2,975 for Iron Mountain A. With Menominee coming in third with 2,934, I-N was close behind with 2,925, followed by Westwood in fifth with 2,864, Marquette seventh with 2,609 and L'Anse 11th with 1,910.
