Alger County residents record aces in Florida

WETMORE - A pair of Alger County men have recorded aces while golfing in Florida.

On Feb. 18, Chuck Johnson of 16 Mile Lake, posted the second hole-in-one of his golfing career. The 70-year-old aced the par-3, 118-yard eighth hole at the Sunny Hills Golf Course in Sunny Hills, Fla. He used a pitching wedge. Witnesses were Russ Bernard and Duane Lincoln of Munising, and Jim Nauta of Pentwater, Fla. The previous day, Wetmore resident Loyst Trombly, 80, sank a hole-in-one while playing at the Nature Rock Golf Course in Lynn Haven, Fla. He used a pitching wedge to ace the par-3, 93-yard, second hole. Johnson, Patty Demeuse of Gladstone and Arland Brock of Wetmore witnessed the shot.
