February 24, 2013
The Mining Journal

The Marquette Rotary Club recently made a $2,000 donation to the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight from the proceeds of its pancake breakfast. Shown at the presentation are, from left, World War II veteran Joe Drobny, Honor Flight volunteer Paula Waeghe, WWII veteran Jerry LaJoice and Rotarians/Honor Flight guardians John Kivela, Bruce Miller and Dewey Jones. The Honor Flight's mission is to fly World War II Veterans to visit their memorial in Washington, D.C. The next mission is scheduled for May 1 and is full with veterans on the waiting list. There is also a full group of guardians who are escorts for each veteran.
