MARQUETTE - The Great Yooper Folk Dance and Cafe will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Northern Michigan University Great Lakes Rooms. Music will be provided by traditional acts Kaivama and White Water. Yooper treats and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is $2 for adults and free for students/kids.
The folk dance closes out U.P. Heritage Month activities sponsored by the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center at NMU.
Kaivama is a Minneapolis duo who performs Finnish music, featuring Ishpeming native Jonathan Rundman and fiddler Sara Pajanen. White Water is known for its musicianship, four-part harmony vocals and stage presence.
