BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Toivo M. Maki, 83, entered eternal life on February 18, 2013, at the Ebenezer Care Center in Burnsville, MN.
Toivo was born in Ishpeming, MI, on November 15, 1929, son of Jack and Lempi Maki. He was a first generation American, his parents having emigrated from Finland. After graduation from Ishpeming High School, Toivo attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI where he earned degrees in mining and metallurgy. He was an ROTC member in college and after graduation served his country in the United States Air Force from 1952-54. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of 1st lieutenant.
Toivo married Concetta I. Graham, also of Ishpeming on January 12, 1955. They had two daughters, Claudia (Michael) Gadow of Prior Lake, MN and Hope (Marvin) Kuehner of Marshfield, WI. During his mining career, Toivo worked in plants in Canada, Michigan and Minnesota. After retirement, Toivo and Connie moved to Florida and then later Toivo returned to Ishpeming.

Toivo is survived by his wife Connie of Marshfield, daughters, his granddaughter Ste phanie (Kevin) Evers of Davenport, IA and sister Helen (Reuben) Koski of Ishpeming. MI.
He was predeceased by his brother, William (Donna) Maki.
A private family funeral will be held in Marshfield with arrangements through Rembs Funeral Home.
