MARQUETTE - United States Olympic Education Center weightlifter Chris Young pocketed a bronze medal Sunday at the National Junior Weightlifting Championships in Foster City, Calif.

Young, of downstate Oakland competed in the 85-kilogram weight class. He lifted 110 kg in the snatch and 147 kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 257 kg.

"I felt really good going into the event," Young said. "I knew if I could put a good snatch and a good clean and jerk together, I had a chance at third.
