MARQUETTE - The Marquette County Sheriff's Office has released the names of the people involved in a three-vehicle crash, which occurred Tuesday along M-553 in Sands Township and sent two people to Marquette General Hospital.

Deputies said the crash was reported at 11:45 a.m. and occurred north of Stonegate Drive.

A 1998 Ford pickup truck traveling north along M-553 being driven by Ryan C. Heric, 22, of Gwinn lost control and crossed the centerline, striking head on a southbound 2010 Mercury Sable being driven by Evelyn J. Hendry, 57, of Gwinn. Hendry's vehicle was then struck in the rear by a southbound 2010 Cadillac sedan driven by Cory J. Lemieux, 33, of Gwinn.

Hendry was extricated by Marquette Township Fire Department personnel and taken to Marquette General by Medi-Ride Ambulance. Lemieux was taken to the hospital by Marquette General EMS Ambulance.

M-553 was closed from County Road 480 to Marquette Mountain for approximately two hours after the crash, which remains under investigation.

Safety belts were used by all occupants and air bags were deployed.

The Sands Township Fire Department, Sands Township EMS and the Marquette Police Department also assisted at the scene.
