MARQUETTE - Tasty Reads, a book group for readers who love to cook, will meet for a lunchtime book discussion from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the Peter White Public Library in the Shiras Room.
This month's book selection is "Angelina's Bachelors" by Brian and Virginia O'Reilly.
The novel is about young, recently widowed, Angelina D'Angelo, who copes with her grief and loss by pouring herself into her passion for cooking. She makes so much food that she winds up delivering the spoils to the neighbors in her tight-knit Italian community in South Philadelphia.
Retiree Basil Cupertino, a new neighbor, is smitten with Angelina's food and offers her a job cooking for him-six days a week. Soon, word of her irresistible culinary prowess spreads and she finds herself cooking for seven bachelors-and in the process discovers the magical power of food to heal, to bring people together . . . and maybe even to provide a second chance at love.
Participants are invited enjoy sample recipes from the book and new members are always welcome. The Tasty Reads meets the third Monday of each month at the library and there is no admission charge.
