David G. Lynott

DULUTH, MN - David G. Lynott, 66, a longtime resident of Wakefield, Mich., died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice in Duluth, with his loving family by his side.

Dave, a baptized child of God, was born on Jan. 8, 1947, in Marquette, Mich., the son of George E. and Virginia E. (Barry) Lynott Jr. He graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary High School in Mount Calvary, Wis. Dave attended one year of college at Maryknoll Major Seminary in Glen Ellyn, Ill., before graduating from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich., with a bachelor of science in political science.

Dave worked for Prudential Financial for 40 years and was still employed there when he died.

Dave enjoyed his involvement with his church and community activities. He was an active member of Rotary and was a recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Award.

Dave was a Little League coach, an avid skier and a sports enthusiast, who enjoyed following the Green Bay Packers. He was particularly fond of Finnish culture, especially the sauna.

On Feb. 13, 1971, Dave married Margaret M. Davis at the Catholic Church in Montrose, Iowa. They resided in Bessemer, Mich., for three years and then made their home in Wakefield.

Dave was a devoted husband, dad, papa, brother, uncle and friend to many. He touched the lives of so many and he was always willing to help or offer assistance with open arms and a big smile.

Dave is survived by his wife, Margaret "Marg;" a son, Timothy (Nichole), Wakefield; his daughter-in-law, April (Oscar Narvaez) Lynott, Ironwood, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Braelyn, Bode and Bryson Lynott, Ella and Ashley Lynott, and Leandro and Amelia "Mia" Narvaez; two brothers, Steve (Pat), Marquette, and Frank (Mary), Phoenix, Ariz.; three sisters, Mary (Larry) Hill, Green Bay, Wis., Cathy (Joe) Milliner, Marquette, and Jean (Gene) Boutin, Taylors, S.C.; nine nieces and nephews, Doug (Jennifer) Lynott, Monica (Mark) Nelson, Dan Lynott, Chris (Ann Marie) Hill, Ben (Sandy) Hill, Jessica Hill, Tom (Michelle) Lynott, Becky Lynott and Cindy Lynott; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Sean, on Aug. 23, 2005.

Friends may call at the Lakeside Memorial Chapel in Wakefield, on Monday, Feb. 11, beginning at 5 p.m., where a vigil service will be prayed at 7 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Feb. 12, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Wakefield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Ben Hasse, celebrant.

Pallbearers will be family members.

Rite of Committal and burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield, in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 407 Ascherman St., Wakefield MI 49968.
